Summer campaign launched for travellers

The spotlight was on Vanderkloof Resort, which hosted the Northern Cape Economic Development, Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (NCEDA)’s Provincial Tourism Summer Campaign aimed at boosting domestic travel on Friday, 28 November.

Situated near Vanderkloof Dam from Hopetown on the N12, Vanderkloof Resort is mostly beneficial for the N1 and N12 route travellers, making it a compelling stopover.

It offers a refreshing break and a taste of the Northern Cape’s unique charm.

The campaign focuses on inspiring South Africans to take short, memorable trips over the festive season.

The Northern Cape Summer Campaign formed part of South Africa’s national tourism initiative, led by the Ministry of Tourism under the iconic “Sho’t Left” banner.

It was designed to stimulate travel during the peak summer season, encouraging South Africans to explore local destinations while celebrating the country’s rich cultural and natural diversity with international visitors.

The event featured a vibrant showcase of local tourism experiences and positioned Vanderkloof Resort as one of the hidden gems across the various regions to foster inclusive tourism growth.

NCEDA hopes to achieve its objectives through fostering industry collaboration and partnering with travel and hospitality stakeholders to offer affordable packages and special deals.

More efforts are made through the activation of events and roadshows, hosting official launches, and community engagements, in order to energize local tourism operators.

The Vanderkloof Resort launch not only celebrated the province’s diverse tourism offerings but also served as a platform to strengthen partnerships between government, local enterprises, and communities.

By showcasing the Northern Cape’s unique attractions, it unlocked new opportunities for investment and sustainable growth, reinforcing the province’s role as a destination of choice for both domestic and international travellers.

NCEDA’s Acting CEO, Shawn Modise, emphasised the importance of the initiative, stating and extending gratitude to all who joined the team at Vanderkloof Resort.

“This campaign highlights the province’s hidden gems, strengthens domestic travel, and welcomes international visitors to experience the Northern Cape’s adventure, culture, and natural beauty,” said Modise.
