Keimoes accused sentenced for assaulting an infant

A domestic violence incident between two cousins resulted in a 5-month old boy being assaulted in Keimoes on Monday, 21 July 2025.

It was reported that the accused and the mother of the victim were in an argument that escalated and became physical, while the mother was holding the infant.

The accused kicked the boy on his head during the fight and subsequently suffered bruises on his head and face.

A case of assault was reported to the police and the accused was arrested.

On 24 November 2025, the accused was found guilty of Assault with the intent to cause Grievous-Bodily Harm and was sentenced to 12 months direct imprisonment.

He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm in terms of the Firearm Control Act 60/2000 Section 103.

The ZFM Management welcomed the sentence and commended the investigating officer, Sergeant Derick Dippenaar of the Kakamas Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit.
