Namakwa Saps Continues To Clamp Down On Drugs
In a series of drug-related operations conducted on 09 April 2026, members in the Namakwa District arrested four (4) suspects across the district, underscoring the ongoing commitment to combating drug-related crime. The first incident occurred at approximately 08:40, when members, acting on information received, followed up on a tip-off regarding a suspect allegedly selling drugs from his vehicle in Rivier Street, Springbok. Upon locating the vehicle, members found a 37-year-old male suspect seated inside with a bag positioned between his legs. A search of the bag led to the discovery of numerous ziplock bags of dagga weighing with an estimated street value of R4 640.00. The suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs and appeared in the Springbok Magistrate’s Court. At the same scene, a 20-year-old male was also arrested for possession of dagga with an estimated street value of R1 240.00. He appeared in the Springbok Magistrate’s Court on 10 April 2026. Later that afternoon, at approximately 14:30, a member of Garies SAPS acted on information received and approached a 20-year-old suspect at the local court premises. A search of the suspect led to the discovery of suspected tik (methamphetamine). The suspect was arrested and processed to appear in the Garies Magistrate’s Court. In a third incident, at approximately 18:10, a 40-year-old female suspect was arrested for public drunkenness. A subsequent search revealed bags of suspected tik (methamphetamine) in her possession.
