Springbok: 23 October 2025- As the Provincial Commissioner of the Northern Cape,  Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola officially launched the Safer Festive Season Operations in De Aar today, members of Port Nolloth SAPS achieved two major drug successes with arrests and the seizure of a substantial amount of dagga in two days.

During the first incident on Wednesday, 22 October 2025 at approximately 16:25, members of  B-relief responded to information regarding suspected drug activities at a residence in Sizamile settlement in Port Nolloth.

Upon arrival at the identified address, SAPS members engaged with a  57-year-old  female and conducted a search of the premises.

The operation led to the discovery and seizure of hydro dagga with an estimated street value of R369 000-00.

The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in court soon.

In an unrelated incident also in Port Nolloth on Thursday, 23 October 2025 at 15:35, members of  D relief were conducting routine crime prevention patrols when they received information  regarding a male suspect who had allegedly collected a suspicious package from a local retail store.

Acting swiftly on the intelligence, members spotted the male person fitting the description walking in Robson Street carrying a large bag.

Upon searching the male, members discovered a substantial amount of hydro dagga with an estimated value of approximately R400 000-00 who was subsequently apprehended.

These arrests and seizures is an affirmation and reassurance, that the SAPS in the Namakwa District will not tolerate these acts of drug dealing and trafficking.

Targeted intelligence driven operations will be intensified during the festive period and beyond.

The District Commissioner, Brigadier Schalk Andrews, appreciated the robust community involvement and thanked the community for their being the eyes and ears of the police. End
