Fatal crash of friends sends shockwaves through the city

 

The Kimberley Serious and Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a culpable homicide case following a fatal crash that claimed 2 Galeshewe friends Boitumelo ‘Tots’ Pheleu (36), and Dwight Galileo Sekgoro (35), on Sunday 09 November on the R31.

Three more male friends, believed to be from Galeshewe, remain hospitalised with serious injuries.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Molefi Shemane said the accident happened on the road between Kimberley and Barkly West, a distance away from the Kimberley turn off towards Homelite.

It is believed that the 5 friends were driving back home from Barkly West on the fateful night.

It is further alleged that 2 trucks were involved in the crush.

Pheleu and Sekgoro were declared deceased by the Emergency Medical Service as the other 3, including the driver of the car, were rushed to hospital.

Shemane said the police are investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal accident.

The death of the two friends has send shockwaves through the city as they were known to be living their lives.

The devastated mother of Dwight, said her son was in a celebratory mood and period after landing a new job at Sanlam.

After completing his Learnership as a Journalist intern at Roma Nna Media House in 2024.

He had also undergone several internships, including contract jobs at different companies.

He received the good news that he has to report for duty on Monday 10 November, the day before his tragic death.

 Pheleu started school at St Peters Primary school, then proceeded to Tetlanyo High school in Galeshewe. After his tertiary education he has also participated in several Learneship programmes including temporary jobs.

The two will be buried separately at their respective homes in Moshe Kantane street, Stock n Stock, and Tyala street near Sobantu on Saturday 15 November 2025.
