Golf Day ahead of St Boniface Parish Centenary Anniversary Celebration

St Boniface Catholic Church in Kimberley held a Gala dinner at Flamingo Casino on the 3rd of October as a build-up for the it’s Centenary Celebration(100 years) later this year on 13 December 2025.

The dinner followed a successful Gold Day earlier in the day, in honour of the legacy of late Bishops Erwin Hecht and Abel Gabuza.

Forming part of the activities was a pampering spa and breakfast for the guests.

Amongst the dignitaries at the gala were Bishop Duncan Tsoke , retired Archbishop Emiritus Jabulani Khumalo, Priest of the Perish Tumelo Mosito, and a few member of the congregation.

Praise and worship were the order of the day as jubilant  Parish members filled the venue.

Archbishop Khumalo expressed pride to be a part of the Centenary celebration of the Parish. He described the moment as a declaration of thanks giving, and a reminder that God is in charge.

Perish Executive Chairperson Tebogo Bonokwane anticipates that the event will be a very big celebration, highlighting how St Boniface has touched a lot of people, especially in Galeshewe and within the political sphere.

Appreciation was directed to sponsors, including Telkom, Suzuki, PNA, Volkswagen, Ford, Nare Boutique Hotel and Dioceses outside of Kimberley for sponsoring the Centenary event.

The programme also included the drawing of a Raffle, Auction of items such as oil paintings by Gordon Mahgro, and cutstom-made rugs from Turkey.

Holiday homes in Durban were also auctioned, of which the proceeds will go towards the church and its upkeep.

In his closing remarks Father Mosito expressed his greatest appreciation to the congregants for making the event possible and successful.

“This day is about paving towards the Centenary celebration. It was not easy, but I believe that we will make as St Boniface perish because we are number one,” said Mosito.

Mxolisi Kanguywe, who delivered his vote of thanks, acknowledged all sponsors who made the event a success. He said everything eventually fell into place amids numerous letters of rejection they received for donations.

Bishop Tsoke, who cut the cake, wished the church a century of wisdom and sweetness.
