Man Found Guilty For The Brutal assault Of A Six Year Old Child
The conviction follows an incident that occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, 25 April 2025, where the accused threw a stone at a six-year-old boy.
The young victim was playing near his aunt’s house when the accused, Mr Frans “Frinko” Jasson, struck him on the head with a stone, resulting in an open wound.
A case of assault GBH was registered at Kakamas Police Station, which led to the swift arrest of the accused. The matter was subsequently assigned to Detective Constable Nicola Lee-Ann Esau, who conducted a thorough investigation.
The accused appeared in the Kakamas Magistrate’s Court, where he was convicted and sentenced to 18 years’ imprisonment, wholly suspended for five years, on condition that he is not found guilty of assault GBH during the period of suspension.
The court further declared him unfit to possess a firearm.
The District Commissioner of ZF Mgcawu District, Major General Monica Sebili, commended Detective Constable Esau for her dedication and diligence in ensuring the successful investigation and conviction in this matter.
