Saps Laceup For Freedom Day

Runners from the Northern Cape SAPS Marathon Club, the ‘Blue Machines’ recently participated in the Annual Kuruman Freedom Run.

Athletes united in sport to recognise national unity, social cohesion and reflect on the progress made in overcoming poverty, inequality and discrimination.

The annual event took place at the Wrenchville Sports Grounds on 25 April 2026.  The Kuruman Freedom Run is also a Comrades Marathon qualifier.

Athletes excelled in their respective races with remarkable times.

Sergeant Keagoleboga Pule (Shoni) was a podium finisher in third position in the females’ 42km category. This is not her first time taking the accolade in this marathon.

The Northern Cape Provincial Management commended the runners for their outstanding performance and wish them well on the last leg of preparations for the ultimate race – the Comrades Marathon.
