ST BONIFACE CENTENARY MILESTONE HAS ARRIVED

It was on 8 December 1925 when missionary Bishop Herman Joseph Meysing and Father Anton Jager planted a seed on Corless Road, Kirstenhof, Kimberley. This seed would bloom later to become the giant that is today, the hundred year old St Boniface Roman Catholic Church.

On Saturday, 13 December 2025, Catholics and many invited guests will converge on the premises of St Boniface to celebrate the milestone revered by many a Christian community.  True to Catholic tradition, a celebratory Mass starts the festivities at 10:00 followed by the unveiling of a memorial stone in honour of the late German missionary and Oblate of Mary Immaculate Bishop Erwin Hecht.

Most men of the cloth in the Catholic faith are proud to be part of the Centenary Celebration. Attending the event are priests that previously served the St Boniface parishioners. They are Fathers Bernard Seane, Sebogodi Jebetle, Modisa Sekao and current Parish Priest Father Tumelo Mosito.

Keynote speaker is Shepherd of the Kimberley Diocese His Lorship Bishop Duncan Tsoke.

It is rooted among the Galeshewe community that St Boniface be declared a Heritage Site for its contribution as a safe haven for those who rose against the Apartheid regime and during the protests of the 70s and later years. What a rich history this church bears and has stood tall in the era of the Second World War.

It is for the above and many other reasons like the St Boniface School produced  a myriad of professionals that the community wishes it to be declared a heritage site.

To round off the day, all present will be treated to a full lunch.
