Mothibistad Man To Be Jailed For Rape
The Mothibistad Regional Court recently convicted and sentenced Lesetja Anthony Keikabile (36) for the rape of a 26 year old woman.
The pair were socialising with friends in Batlharos on Monday, 30 May 2022, when the accused offered the victim transport home, and suggested that she accompany him to obtain a vehicle.
On the way, the accused slapped the victim to ground and violently removed her clothing and raped her multiple times.
He threatened to kill her if she reported the incident and then fled the scene.
The young woman reported the incident to the police who initiated an investigation into the brutal crime, subsequently leading to the arrest of the accused.
Keikabile was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment and declared unfit to possess a firearm.
The Acting District Commissioner of the John Taolo Gaetsewe District, Brigadier Kenneth Baloyi, commended the investigating officer, Detective Constable Paseka Ditlhoisho from the Kuruman Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for the meticulous investigation that ensured justice for the victim of a gender-based violence crime.
