The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) reminds social grants beneficiaries whose grants have been identified for review that they will not receive their grants during the normal three-day payment cycle but instead, on the fourth payment day.
For August 2026, the Older Persons Grant will be paid on Tuesday the 4th, the Disability Grant on Wednesday the 5th, and the Children’s Grants on Thursday the 6th.
Beneficiaries whose grants are under review will therefore be paid on Friday, 07 August 2026.
Beneficiaries who do not receive their grants on 04, 05 or 06 August 2026 should not panic or rush to their nearest SASSA office.
If their grant is under review, payment will be made on Friday, 07 August 2026.
Those under review are urged to only visit their nearest SASSA offices after receiving their grant on the fourth payment day to complete the review process.
Failure to respond to a review request may result in the grant being suspended or lapsing in accordance with the Social Assistance Act.
SASSA spokesperson Dr Paseka Letsatsi reminded the beneficiaries that it is essential that beneficiaries keep their contact details up to date, in order to receive the review messages in time.
Beneficiaries are further reminded to immediately notify SASSA whenever they change their cellphone number, marital status, residential address; as well as when there are changes to their travel outside of the borders of the country.
“Keeping beneficiary information up to date helps SASSA administer social grants efficiently and reduces unnecessary payment delays or interruptions,” said Letsatsi.
“When reporting for a grant review, beneficiaries should bring all documents required to verify their continued eligibility. Depending on the type of grant, beneficiaries should generally bring the original documents together with certified copies of the documents required on the notification or SMS.”
Bedridden or medically unable beneficiaries are urged to contact SASSA office in order for an authorised representative (procurator) to be appointed to act on their behalf where applicable.
SASSA has free Wi-Fi connection available for beneficiaries to utilize for the online services using their own smartphones.
