DRUG ARRESTS IN OKIEP – TWO SUSPECTS APPREHENDED BY PUBLIC ORDER POLICE

The Springbok Public Order Police Unit successfully arrested two suspects, a 43 year old female and a 23 year old male, on drug dealing charges during an operation conducted in Okiep on Friday, 5 September 2025.
The arrests followed the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Rand Street, Okiep, at approximately 10:40.
During the search, members discovered suspected drugs with an estimated street value of R4 051-96, as well as cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.
Both suspects remain in custody and are expected to appear in the Magistrate’s Court in due course.
These arrests form part of the South African Police Service’s ongoing efforts to curb drug-related crimes in the Namakwa District.
The District Commissioner, Brigadier Schalk Andrews commended the unit for their dedication and effective action, reaffirming SAPS’s commitment to removing illegal substances from communities and ensuring perpetrators face justice. End
