Truck driver fatally stabbed – one suspect arrested

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with the alleged murder of a 29-year-old truck driver in Kuruman on Tuesday, 04 August 2026.

It is alleged that the incident occurred while the truck was travelling  in Kuruman.

Another truck driver noticed that something appeared to be wrong with the vehicle and immediately drove alongside it to investigate.

Upon approaching the truck, he reportedly found the driver covered in blood with the driver’s door open. Acting swiftly, he climbed into the moving truck, moved the injured driver to the passenger seat and safely brought the vehicle under control before transporting the victim to Kuruman Hospital.

The victim was declared deceased on arrival after he had sustained multiple stab wounds.

Information received indicated that the passenger travelling with the deceased was allegedly responsible for the fatal attack.

The matter was immediately reported to the police, and a murder case was registered at Kuruman Police Station.

SAPS members swiftly traced and arrested the suspect in Livingstone Street, Kuruman, where he was allegedly attempting to evade arrest.

The Acting District Commissioner of the John Taolo Gaetsewe District, Brigadier Kenneth Baloyi, commended the members for their prompt response, professionalism and diligent investigative efforts, which resulted in the swift arrest of the suspect.
