More boots in the ground yields successes in the province

With more boots on the ground during this festive season period, police in the province continue to enforce the law and stamp down the authority of the state. High density operations under the command of senior Provincial managers, District Commissioners and station commanders have led to the apprehension and arrest of 202 persons for an array of criminal offences. Disruptive actions executed during Operation Shanela 2 operations included roadblocks, vehicle checkpoints, stop and searches, compliance inspections to second hand dealers,recyclers, firearm dealers, formal and informal businesses and mines. 6 068 persons and 3168 vehicles were stopped and searched during actions. Detectives in the five districts continue to track and arrest wanted suspects evading court appearances and for whom warrants of arrests have been issued.
Major drug successes were achieved in the ZFM district on 14 November 2025, when Groblershoop members intercepted drugs worth approximately R1.3 million at a roadblock with one arrest affected. Meanwhile in the Namakwa district also on 14 November 2025, the District Task team arrested two males while transporting drugs between Nababeep and Bergsig. In the Pixley Ka Seme region during a joint operation between Douglas and Griekwastad SAPS, police members destroyed 570 dagga trees in Griekwastad. Large volumes of alcoholic beverages were seized and illegal liquor outlets were closed down. Drugs, liquor, stolen goods, meat products and other commodities were also confiscated during visits and raids at various establishments. Community Policing structures continue to support and assist SAPS during operations, events and school visits in an attempt to clamp down on crime during this festive season. Numerous roadblocks were conducted on all major and secondary roads leading into and out of the province as traffic volumes increase on the roads. The enforcement of the Road Traffic Act will be vigorously implemented. The SAPS Management continues to appreciate the collective efforts by departments within the JCPS cluster for the collaboration in fighting crime effectively and vigorously during the festive period and beyond.
