Bail Hearing in Gift Ntopo Murder Case Postponed
Boipelo Mere
The bail application of the suspect arrested in connection with the murder of Keotshepile ‘Gift’ Ntopo has been postponed to Monday, 14 September 2026 by the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court.
The suspect made a brief appearance in Court D, five minutes before the court adjourned for the day.
The magistrate ruled that there was insufficient time to hear the application, noting that the court had been occupied throughout the day processing 13 other bail applications.
He apologised to the family and friends who had waited throughout the day for the matter to be heard, and assured them that the case would be prioritised on the new date.
Ntopo was fatally stabbed in the early hours of Sunday, 16 August 2026, just metres from the gate of the Magistrate’s Court after attending a nightclub adjacent to the building.
